A poem by Gulchaman

I am an Afghan child
I want a piece of peace
I want my own world
Please stop violence against me
I am innocent
I am small
I just want to go outside
Without fear

I need to enjoy the sunshine
And skip and run
Without fear
I want to go to school
Without fear

We do not want war
In my country

I want to walk
In a safe place
With my parents
I need to hear the voice of birds
Instead of the voice
Of explosions

I will get an education
I will find a way to
Stop the violence

I am an Afghan child
I am Afghanistan’s future
One day I will no longer be
A child and I will build
A beautiful Afghanistan
Without fear
