Imagine a Forgotten Land

By Farida

Imagine a forgotten land
Dozens of people die every day
Thousands scream from pain
But their voices have no sound

The world witnesses
but they:
Don’t hear
Don’t see
Don’t want to understand

They try to console by
condemning the violence
But no one is willing to stand

The word “death” must be changed
It does not describe
Afghans who die in vain
As if the color of their blood is not red
Or their wounds never bled
