The Breaking Heart of Afghanistan

For other people in the world
Life goes on
But in Afghanistan
We are the unluckiest
The firewood of endless wars

We have lost everything
With the Taliban’s takeover
Friends, jobs, life, homes,
Calm thoughts and even sleep

Like a dying body,
Each breath we take now burns
Away another part of our essence

The world turns its back
Looks silently on us
Without humanity

We will not forget these pains
We will not forget all the oppressions
We will tell God life on earth
Was like hell for us in Afghanistan

Still, I do not want to die
Still, I have hopes as young woman
Do not let us die
