An Essay by Adela K.

To all my fellow countrywomen wherever you live and work, let’s start by recognizing what we do every day. Be proud of yourself, love yourself! Love yourself enough to have a healthy lifestyle — eat well and exercise. Make time for yourself. Never forget your worth and what you deserve. It does not matter how you look on the outside. It is what is on the inside that counts. So, accept who you are and love the real you and say that you are beautiful just the way you are. Believe in yourself and never let anyone make you think you are less simply because you are a woman or they have more money or are more beautiful or have a better education. Some people have more opportunities offered to them in life but that does not mean that they are better and you are less as a person. Never believe anyone who tells you that you cannot do something because you are only a woman.

Educate yourself and challenge yourself. Make time for this. Education is the most important thing because without it you will be at a disadvantage against men and other women. Besides that, being able to read and write opens up the world. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not smart enough to have an education or it is just a waste to educate a woman. That is just their own insecurities that they are trying to force on women. Women are capable of being anything they want to be.

Give time to yourself to sleep enough so that you are well rested and can do whatever you want to do each day. Also, it is so important to sometimes step away from your job and have a life outside of your workplace. I encourage all families to stand with their women everywhere encouraging them to study and helping them with household chores so that they have more time to improve their lives. Supporting women is fundamental to the future direction of the world.

Women, believe in yourself, give much time to yourself and build your self- confidence. Surround yourself with people who clearly love your light and add to it. I am sure you will do great!
